Symbol Meaning
-
In Akan culture, the caterpillar is often seen as a symbol of transformation and growth. It is believed that the caterpillar has the ability to transform itself into a beautiful butterfly or moth, which is seen as a metaphor for the human experience of growth and change.
The caterpillar is also associated with the concept of perseverance and determination, as it must overcome many obstacles and challenges in order to transform into a butterfly. This is seen as a symbol of the importance of working hard and persisting through difficult times in order to achieve one's goals.
Since the fourteenth century, Akan rulers have used elaborate displays of royal regalia (Agyapdie) to express their power and wealth, as well as to shield themselves from harm. We have erected this royal regalia in modern fashion while maintaining the style and techniques used to produce them that are centuries old.
We are Ghanaians and a black owned small business in love with our culture with a mission to share a piece of our heritage with the rest of the world.
