Since the fourteenth century, Akan rulers have used elaborate displays of royal regalia (Agyapdie) to express their power and wealth, as well as to shield themselves from harm. We have erected this royal regalia in modern fashion while maintaining the techniques used to produce them that are centuries old.
Sanded and polished by hand. Our beautiful unisex Scorpion rings shown in an 23 karat gold over brass & silver plated finish are an elegant and casual statement piece to wear at any occasion you would like to stand out at. They are surely conversation starters and relics meant to be passed down on to future generations.
Symbol Meanings
- Nyanyankyerɛ (Scorpion): Multi-proverbial that speaks of one for the power of the king, revenge and retribution, and how enemies may secretly undermine and attack. “The scorpion does not bite with his mouth, but with his tail.”
This piece is handcrafted in our Kumasi workshop and made by local Ghanaian Artisans. These artisans are of a special class of royal smiths who ancestrally believe they derive from a mystical man called Fusu Kwabi who is said to descend from the heavens in the early 1400s to teach men how to work gold.
All rings are made through a lost wax casting process. We use a mixture of local brass and bronze as a base. Due to the handmade nature of this item, each piece is unique, one of the same & any variations are considered part of the beauty of the design.
We are Ghanaians and a black owned small business in love with our culture with a mission to share a piece of our heritage with the rest of the world.
